But what are Puka shells and where they come from? I think the best place to find Puka shells are on the white sandy beaches ofPhilippines. The first time I took a walk on a beautiful white sandy tropical beach, I thought I could walk barefoot on the beaches of Southern California such as; places like Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, where sand is smooth and soft. However, it was the sand in Bohol, the beach, I ventured for the first time in the Philippines, many shells in the sand I wear sandals because the shells had been so painful to step on. I was amazed that it could be as manyCups!

In reality, the Philippines is probably the largest manufacturer of shells in the world. Large companies such as Pacific and Philippine Export Bedido Jumbo shells in large quantities all over the world. In fact, Cebu City is known as the capital of the Philippines Shell. Why is there even a beach called Puka Beach in the Philippines. So it is not surprising that the shells are the king in the Philippines!

But what kind of Puka shells are there? Now there are three main types. Actual Puka shellsthat are empty and they come from cone snails, shells Puka Puka jagged cut called Chips and soft, round cut called Heishi Puka shells.

Technically, the shells Puka true of the first type. These are the ones that cone snails, which have plunged into the surf and the sand has fallen over time, find all that remains, the hollow point. The hole in the top (called Puka), is also supported by, and is ideal for stringing into a necklace. The color varies from white toLight beige and light brown. White is very popular, and it is said, most local surfers in Hawaii are worn.

A second type is known as Puka Shell Chips. The most popular color is white, but they are brown, mixed, dark brown (almost black), gray, pink, and now, pastel, rainbow, through the magic of color dyes available. Thesis chips jagged shells pounding lager or square shapes and then made a hole for stringing.

Athird type is Heishi, mussels, which are cut and polished into round shapes are called flat and smooth. Then a hole is drilled and lined up the shells and polished the edges with a leather belt. They come in all colors including white, beige, brown, purple, SHELL, graylip, pinklip, blacklip and countless other varieties.

The labor market to create chips and Heishi is all done by hand and is very labor intensive, intense and dangerous for the craftsman with his fingers. This is why the Philippines has aAdvantage for the production of these shells, as the work very cheaply in the Third World country.

So there must be a brief overview of the types of Puka Shell Necklace, and now it is better for the style and quality you prefer to shop. To better understand this advise you can be sure of what you get, and enjoy the experience of this feeling tropical. A happy holiday beach!
